STORY RECAP: A sudden surge in cramp-related accidents has shaken the fairy community –the situation has continued to escalate. The good news is that the campaign to educate fairies about the perils of flight cramps has been relaunched. While concerns are still high, we're optimistic that this initiative will help reduce serious injuries from these incidents.
SPECIFICATION: Myrtle's is wearing a hand-stitched leather flight suit in glorious green leather. It is accessorised with earmuffs, flight goggles and a walnut shell flight helmet. Striped wings and tummy crinkles add to the charm of this character.
The inspiration for this entire series of 'stretching' sculptures stemmed from Myrtle's leapfrog-inspired pose. There's an abundance of nostalgia and playful charm encapsulated in this particular stance. Myrtle has a turned wooden wall base that has been oiled to enhance the natural colour and grain of the wood.
Each piece is numbered, signed, and dated on the back of the base. They each come with a typed title mounted onto wood. To add a touch of magic, each sculpture has a certificate of authenticity and its own special postcard, featuring a sketchbook page from my original idea development.
